Nope they had a problem making the ISO hopefully in a day or two. I think this version is Ubuntu based and they will work on a Debian based one a little later.

Quote)We are 99.99% sure the issue is with the version of squashfs because frag has run into it a few other times.
The problem is that we are using the version that's currently available from the Ubuntu repositories so we are taking matters into our own hands.
Frag is contacting the maintainer of squashfs to see if he can get a fixed version of squashfs to build against our system and/or perhaps have the maintainer take a look at our problem.
Hopefully, this will only set us back a few days or less.

Quote)How about reverting to the previous version of squashfs? Is that possible? Ben

quote)Nope...
Not unless we build the package ourselves.
If we do that, we may as well build a newer one.

quote)Squashfs is tied to the kernel. There is a patch out there to fix the issue but I don't know why it wasn't applied in 8.04.

Gene is working on getting it tarred up so I can grab it and get it fixed. Much easier than trying to talk someone through it.

So this will still be based on Hardy then? It will be interesting to see if it works on my laptop. I couldn't get Klikit or Phoenix Hardy to work 100% as the drivers are just too old. Are you using a newer kernel or something?

no it's supposed to be lucid 10.04. I don't know why he mentioned 8.04 unless he meant 10.04 or maybe squashfs wasn't updated since 8.04.
I think he meant it should have been patched clear back in 8.04. That would have fixed it in all newer versions.

I tried an earlier version and it wouldn't install... When I talked to geekydude, he said that there would be improvements in this next release. I am looking forward to trying it once they have released the new version.

Keep us posted please, old tech... Cool

I should clarify that statement about "not installing"... The OS installed but there was no way to install the NIC drivers that I needed in my new box. With no access to the internet, it was a "no go" for me... If this new version of RevLinuxOS is based on Lucid or newer, that shouldn't be a problem...

There are a LOT of COOL people over there, many of whom I am proud to say, I consider friends from former distros... Wink Laughing Cool

Worth a visit, in my opinion...

Harvey
