Oh the weather out side is frightful...

Post  revhouse1 on Tue Feb 01, 2011 2:02 pm

Well, the boys are home 'cause the schools are closed today. Only a dusting of snow here, however, the wind chill this morning was -30, its now noon and we've warmed up to a balmy 1 degree with a wind chill of -27.

They are saying that the HIGH for Phoenix tomorrow is only going to be 48 degrees... I know that is quite a bit warmer than most places right now, but believe me, for Phoenix... that's plenty cold... Shocked Shocked Shocked

Tend to agree. Had to put on a long shelve shirt today. If Phoenix gets any colder, guess I'll have to look for the long pants.

LOL you guys are so funny.
I'll be fine as long and there's no fire call tonight. Had one at 2am yesterday. It was darn cold even under all that bunker gear.

We are not in the negative numbers but we just had 20" of snow and it has now turned over to rain to make sure it turns to ice and still here until May.

winter travel ---

Post  Bob3 on Thu Feb 03, 2011 5:44 pm

It is suggested that anyone traveling in the current icy conditions should make sure they have the following:
Shovel, Blankets or Sleeping Bag, Extra Clothing including hat and gloves, 24 hours worth of Food, De-Icer, Rock Salt, Flashlight with spare batteries, Road Flares or Reflective Triangles, Empty Gas Can, First Aid Kit, Booster Cables ...
I looked like an idiot on the bus this morning !

EMPTY gas can??? scratch scratch scratch

That one is a puzzle to me... I would think that you would want extra gas around in case of an emergency, to light a fire, or just put more gas in the car so it doesn't run out...

That's normal winter travel gear. They forgot the tin can and candel... works great for melting snow. But then its an open flame, not a good idea for some people.

You don't want a can of gas in your vehicle because of the possible fume build up... not good to breath and in a vehicle with lots of electrical stuff it can create a rather explosive environment.

There are a few people in which a gas supply and a candle just don't belong together. And, with all that extra time on their hands.....i.e., Homer Simpson
