For Final yes; this is the last beta/rc for Flamehawk hardy; there is really nothing left to improve; unless some bugs crop up that we missed in testing; thats where you the users come in. Please let me know what you think of this release. Do you feel its worthy of being a final?

I have answered your post in Off Topic Ray, before coming here. There is one thing - I have 2 desktop install icons which are not the same in appearance but I think both run ubiquity.
I like the feel of the new version despite now having the same problem as in stealth. Nvidia works in the older version of Flamehawk. The problem starts immediately the driver is installed in the new version followed by a reboot or after setting nvidia in display/hardware and reboot.

So new Flamehawk gives you problems with nvidia and old flamehawk doesnt?

Here is my report on PhoenixOSFH040210.
ISO download was fast from RAC site running around 800 Kb/s .
I have many test slot partitions on my machine so no problem with several test OS all at the same time.
Starting the installer disk , option to load Live in graphic mode or text mode.
I found the text mode perhaps a little faster , text ends with a text prompt , ' startx ' starts the Live default desktop. Live User ' bob ' and password ' amd ' .
To start the install , Menu > System > install . Designed for i386 ystem. Mounted / on ext3 . My data partitions are ext4 which this OS will not mount. The section for Uer name and password will not be saved, but the entry for network host was saved. User name is replaced default to ' bob ' password ' amd ' as sudo User.
If using an other bootloader, at the 'Advanced' block set the MBR to write to the install Root partition and use the grub-legacy numbering system with partitions counting from zero .
On first re-boot the NVidea drivers worked fine.
Lots of good applications to check out.
I decided to create a new User , give it suudo privileges. Be prepared to set a temporary password and it will require a change of password on the first re-boot (this was an idea used in the Ubuntu 8.04 and was later abandoned. Then I re-booted and then deleted the original ' bob ' user account .
But when I rebooted into the new User , I lost my NVidia drivers. Tried to install drivers with Adept but so far they don't work.
So now I have 640 x 480 display which is not useable.

Ok everything you did was correct, except creating a new user. Instead Modify user and change the name and password to what you like. When you deleted user it kinda trashes my customizations, and reverts to a plain ole kubuntu. I have custom patches for nvidia that get lost as well. Are you on Yahoo or skype I can walk you thru it if you need help. Its really a big release major updates.

I have reinstalled. Keeping the install User account ' /home/bob ' and just modifying the password. It is holding together okay now.
Will send time testing out the applictiions you have introduced.

You can modify the name and password just cant change /home/bob, cuz u will loose customizations.
Control center -> User Management -> Administrator -> Modify
At this point you can change user name real name and password, but thats it! or you will loose customizations (including nvidia profiles). Final will fix this. For now just a workaround.
Glad your up and running !

Phoenix FlameHawk Final Beta?
Wed May 05, 2010 12:34 pm
Ray,
I ran the latest FlameHawk beta live off DVD. Seems to run OK on everything I tested. I didn't try it out with a wireless connection, just a wired.

Running Linux Mint 9 on my HP Pavilion desktop, Ubuntu 10.4 UNR on my Dell Mini 9 netbook:D

Re: Flamehawk Release

Clarification- I first reported Nvidia problems with the (now) stealth. It worked and works fine on the original Flamehawk after update and upgrade as advised.
The Nvidia problems arose with the recent Flamhawk and Stealth. With both I am offered low graphics and told that I have to manually configure. I found no way of configuring in Stealth, I just went round in circles and the configuration files looked incomplete and messy. But I am comparing with the old xorg.conf file, which JD taught me to work with.
With the new Flamehawk, I was told that I needed displayconf-gtk which had been removed. After reinstall I installed displayconf-gtk and on reboot I was able to configure during booting but the configuration did not hold and I then had the wrong resolution.
At this point I had hardware problems and was locked out of my system. Not the fault of Phoenix but the age and the the number of moves the equipment and I have made recently. After a journey to the computer shop I have spent the day repairing and/or regaining access to my partitions. I have the two versions of Flamehawk and Stealth running. The only one that has nvidia running is the older version.
I will try to investigate more, probably tomorrow when there is a late night coming up and I can work and keep an ear on the election results.
