Very nice Ray, I used it in live and I think its a keeper. It has all my favorite programs and they all work very well. You did a great job and thanks to John also. I will install it in a day or so. I would have it installed by now except I had some major dental work done and I'm still a hurtin.

Few things in life hurt as much as getting serious dental work done. Hope you feel better.

Glad you like it, best part is its LTS with 5 year support! So we can keep this one for a LONG time. I understand with the dental, just had that done last month: expensive and painful !
Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Testing PheonixOS Percise...No Audio
Mon Jun 11, 2012 2:20 pm
Ray
No Audio in Live mode or off test hard drive.
HP Pavilion A1850. No problem with audio when I run Ubuntu 12.04 or Linux Mint 13.
Everything I have tested works ok so far.

Phoenix Precise LTS install
Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:19 pm
I down loaded it twice but the same thing happens. On a Compaq desk top it will run live and is nice. But it won't let me replace Mint 12 and dual boot with windows. On my old lap top It will give me the boot up screen but can't run live or install. I am triple booting on it. windows Mint 11 but have had Mint 13 running and the other phoenix OS. The desk top is a SR 1620 nx with 2.5 g. of ram. I have 1g.of ram in the lap top. Dave

I had that problem sometime back but I don't remember what operating system I was trying to install. The solution was to install it on an empty partition. For whatever reason it would not install a new operating system over a partition with data on it. So I went into gparted or one of them and deleted everything on the partition and then it would install. Don't delete and reinstall the partition. If you do it will renumber them. example if you delete SDA3 and reinstall it it will be the last position like SDA7

I have gotten up to 5 on a single box. Years ago I read a book I think it was called the multi boot handbook, the guy had something like 127 OS's on a single box. It was fascinating to read how you had to chain load one OS into another and the order of install made a difference. You know your a geek when you find that fascinating reading.

Test drive
Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:12 am
Tekmate,
I bought a hard drive shelf for my home PC a few years ago. I have two hard drives. One Drive has Windows 7. The other drive is a test drive for testing Linux. My wife is a school teacher and she likes Windows. My Dell netbook runs Linux.
When my wife retires in 2 years hopefully I will be able to talk her into using Linux.

I have 8 Linux operating systems on one hard drive and Win 7 on the other. The Win 7 is a terabyte and the Linux drive is 500 Gigabyte.

Last week I re-organized the partition layout on my 500 GB hard drive.
Originally I had a number of 6 GB Logical partitions for Linux test roots. But the new distros are using up more space so my new layout uses 10 GB root partitions.
I have MS Vista using about half of the drive along with its back up system file partition.
My Linux is all on Logicals.
sda5 is a 5 GB NTFS that I can use to transfer files from Linux to Windows or vice versa.
sda6 is a 2 GB Swap. sda7 to sda15 are now 10 GB each for Linux test root partitions.sda16 is all the balance of the space as an ext4 Data partition. I tried a sda17 but some of the software doesn't like a Logical number that high.
There is no problem multi-booting as long as the Linuxes are all grub2.
But if I try a grub-legacy distro it needs a lot of fiddling to get the boot loader to boot it.
Unfortunately so far I have not been able to get RevLinux to boot an image. Still trying.
