Its coming!!! PhoenixOS Debian and PhoenixOS Precise Empty Its coming!!! PhoenixOS Debian and PhoenixOS Precise

Mon May 14, 2012 4:24 pm
Well I finally finished both and they are being mailed off to John, so should be available soon.

Heres a treat:

PhoenixOS Blackhawk is now based on 12.04 Precise LTS which last i heard has 5 years support. Also this is the FIRST PhoenixOS that I have released that I can honestly use KDE 4 and say I like it. So we may stop using kde 3, since kde 4 has gotten a lot better. We will see.
I have been using the one based on Karmic for quite sometime on my personal machine. I am so impressed and pleased with this one that Im wiping out my hd and installing PhoenixOS Blackhawk!

I want to thank everyone for your support and patience. I also created a new wallpaper to go with the plasma theme, thanks for a Phoenix User for donating the bitmap for me to work with.

As soon as its up I will send the offical thump thump message!

Hi Ray,

Have been popping in ocassionally but all seemed to be quiet. Even on my new machine Ububtu flavours did not run well until Narwal.
I have been concentrating on Debian. I have archived Lenny and Squeeze and only have Wheezy and Sid active, the latter being my workhorse.
Along side these I had Kubuntu Precise Daily Builds until it was released. I am not having so much success with Quantal daily builds. This may be because of the change in Kubuntu's support and they have not yet settled. It is installable but screen resolution will not set. It seems to be a problem with the package manager. I can update using apt but not through Muon. In both cases the extras repository does not download.

I will certainly be interested in the Debian and Precise versions of Phoenix. Originally I did not like KDE4, because I found it 'unstable' but this changed and I have been using it for about a year now set to classic. Debian Sid has 4.7 and Precise 4.8.

David.

Glad to see you: my time with un-forseen events popping up has made PhoenixOS development slow down. I am now getting caught up and had numerous breakthrus and I think your gonna like these two.

They both work so well it was hard deciding which one to put on my main machine because they both works so good, but in the end I ended up going with PhoenixOS: BlackHawk (Precise). Like you said KDE4 has finally reached the stability that Linspire had in its releases. Please let me know how it works out for you. Once John receives my images, should be online shortly im hoping by Memorial day in spirit of Linspire tradition of releasing on holidays!
There are a lot of custom scripts in this build for handling the screen and wifi; so hopefully that will help your problem.
