raising from the dead

I believe that if we continue to post at least once a day on this forum others will return seeing that the forum is active. I'm going to make this a goal and see if we can get this forum going. Thanks Ray for keeping us alive.

You missed a day

Post  brotherleroy on Wed May 09, 2018 11:33 pm

You missed a day, but good plan. I'm on board. I have just over 2 weeks left on my MBA, two major papers left to go. After that I am certain I can be more active but I'll try to do the same.

Good luck on your finals. I sure remember those days.

Sounds like a good plan. There are several folks still around these here parts who are interested in PhoenixOS...

Linspire is now taken over by another company who bought out Xandros and all of their properties.

alive

Post  Admin on Thu May 10, 2018 11:36 am

I agree, even if its just to touchbase; helps keep the forum alive.  You are all quite welcome, I am glad that we can still have a place for all of us Linspire INsiders/Linspire users Freespire users and PhoenixOS people to hang, now we just need Kendall heheheh.  I talked to him a while back.  In the meantime, Cary Harper from Original Linspire is back here, he dropped a line in the forums, so lets welcome him back!

What about Bob?

Post  brotherleroy on Thu May 10, 2018 2:22 pm

Anyone hear from Bob? I used to email back and forth with him while I was deployed a few years ago but I lost touch with him.

Thanks for that info and the link Harvey, I might download and try the Linspire version. Hope that you and the rest of us old buggers are keeping well, still like to keep up with most things linux and it's good to see Ray back in the fray. Look forward to trying something from the 'old school' in the near future.

I spoke with him earlier, he has been going back and forth to the va hospital and his health has been not too good, he in moments of pain and even had to stop doing his diving business. He said he will try to stop by, when he has moments of no pain.

Post  brotherleroy on Mon May 14, 2018 4:37 pm

Didn't make it on over the weekend, but I am still here. 4 more days till I can start testing distros again. I am quite excited and happy this community is still around.

Harvey, things going along reasonably well, had aheart attack as a new year present on 01/01/2017, bit of a close call but ok now. Age however is catching up (83 now) so I don't do as much as I used to. Use XFCE as my linux system now however I still think that Lindows/Linspire was my favourite system and was real sad when it disappeared, KDE 4 was never a replacement for KDE 3 in my book, don't know what it's like now as I've never tried it. Xfce makes changing things so much easier that I don't have any expectations of moving anytime soon. Anyway I'm ok, Yvonne is still well and we have now given away the big houses and are in a Retirement Village now, I call it the Waiting Room Very Happy Hope that you and the family are well and to the rest of the posters here 'welcome back'

Welcome back Ray! Yeah I agree, thats why we used to do a kde 3.5 fork using trinity, but I have found a way to use kde4 and still have the look and feel of kde 3.5 so thats where we are right now.
Hope you and the family are doing well in your new residence, some of those places are nice and easier to maintain, so its less of a mission to keep clean!

Take care..
