The new Freespire
Fri May 04, 2018 12:39 pm
I downloaded and test the New Freespire. To me it appears like a cheap version of Linux Mint. Found nothing special about it. Secondly, the attractive properties of the original Freespire (i.e., colors and look) are gone.
yikes

Yeah i tried both the Freespire and Linspire was a big disappointment. Im a HUGE fan of Linspire, hence why i came up with PhoenixOS (Linspire 7). Its like they took a cheap watered down Linux OS and slapped the name on it. Sad really...
Hopefully; in time it will get better. For what they are charging, they should try to get back to the Original Freespire/Linpire look and feel. Maybe even take some ideas from the old Xandros Desktop.

I actually purchase a new copy of his Linspire and tested it out. I think I'll hold my opinion until some others comment on the subject. I will however state, "Its not worth the funds they are charging for this version of Linspire."

I contacted them, and after I told them that I was a Lindows/Linspire Insider Lifetime, even, they offered me a discount on their new version. They also have an "Insider" program which gets you the betas, and such.
Truthfully, I have been way to busy to take them up on their offer, but I will one day.

I might have to do that (purchase a copy). I had Ubuntu 14.04 running on my old Macbook fine, no issues. I never could get 16.04 to work correctly with the Wifi, and 18.04 I haven't tackled yet. Honestly the best OS I had running on that machine were Elementary OpenSuse.
Are the new owners pretty responsive?
