I saw a bunch of Bobs in one of them but my memory is so short I will check it again.

I installed in a virtual machine it still setup bob with a home directory of Jennifer. Other than that it worked OK I did not have a lot of time to goof with it.

Ray..
Come to think of it, I may have had to use "intel" as a password. Didn't notice the bob thing, it's what I named it anyway. What a Face

lemmie check ... looks like bob / jennifer are still with us... karmic is where it's easy as pie to just change user & password in ... (where was it again?)
Got the karmic version on the thinkpad, hardy didn't want to load.
Used "ubiquity" from the run menu to install [karmic]
beg pardon if I'm repeating myself, customers & machines have been driving me bonkers the past couple daze. Suspect

Karmic I can't get the Hardy one to install in a virtual machine so I haven't tried that one yet.

For several days I have tried downloading the Hawk , it would start the download bring in 200 or so MB then stall for no apparent reason. Finally yesterday my download attempt went right through normally.
Installed normally like any Karmic install. I noticed that at the end of entries and start of file install, the background went black which is no problem as you just don't get all the pep talk.
The automatic log in to ' bob ' gave a nice desktop layout. I installed on ext4 , and am booting it from a Debian Squeeze grub2 bootloader. I used Krusader for file manager. Lots of extra application tools.
I could not find in the recent forums, a password for 'bob' . I remember seeing it somewhere back a ways. So I got into CLI and managed to launch Kuser from Root , and created a new User account for my self with 'admin' privileges. That of cuours gave me a new standard Karmic desktop. I was able to copy the desktop settings from /home/jennifer , and I was up and runniung as Phoeniux again.
It would be nice to install the new Software Manager , but that just came with Lucid.
This installation is quite stable.
It is now installed with 5.05 GB root partition files.

"intel" is the password for the later productions, "amd" for the earlier.
As you probably noticed, it's pretty easy to go into user management & change around the user names & passwords.

Glad it worked out for you; I always use amd or intel for passwords so people can remember. How was the speed for you? This version should run faster.

Yes. The desktop loads faster. And considering there are 5.05 GB of files. Only installation I have that is bigger is UberStudent which runs at just over 7 GB .

The release candidate for Lucid should be released any time now, maybe even today or tomorrow. Cool Cool Cool

My BH install is now running stable with the NVidia drivers set at 1440 x 900 resolution on an HP 1660 x 1050 monitor.
I am multi-booting with eight other Linux distros plus Vista. PhoenixOS is on a 7 GB root partition which presently is using 2.33 GB file usage. I created one extra User account without admin priviliges. This does not use the PhoenixOS desktop settings but accesses all the installed apps.
Other test distros on this setup include Ubuntu Maverick, Kubuntu Maverick, Debian Squeeze, UberStudent, PeppermintOS Ubuntu Lucid, Mandriva and Linux-Mint Debian.

Stan.... I think he was referring to PhoenixOS lucid RC.

Ubuntu maverick RC was just released by the Ubuntu crew.
