Updated Roadmap

Here is another update:

PhoenixOS in the future will only be three flavors:

PhoenixOS Flamehawk: Based on Lucid with kde3 EST. Release Date: Labor Day. Release Candidate

PhoenixOS Stealth: Based on Karmic with kde3 (this is for those who cant run lucid) EST. Release date: Labor Day. Release Candidate

PhoenixOS Mini-Hawk: Final Version For Laptop Minis coming soon

BELOW is a 4th option, but only one more release for that one as it is now a Final Finished Release!

PhoenixOS Classic: Hardy- Final version coming soon

A lot of the community thinks PhoenixOS should be one flavor like Linspire so that is the goal I am focusing on. In the future I may due a Debian version; its still a work in progress. Probably based on Debian SID.

How about a USB version?

Got an email today from one of the joints I do business with; they have a "Computer-on-a-Stick", on a 256MB USB stick, no less.
It has some impressive stats for just a tiny stick.

There are already several versions of Linux on USB sticks... why should Ray bother??? In my opinion, it would be better for him to concentrate on making PhoenixOS the BEST that he can, without other side distractions...

I'm with you on this. Unfortunately everyone has their 'pet system' and to them it's always a good idea to promote it. In my opinion it's totally counter productive to any lone producer who tries to please everybody. I personally think there are too many Phoenix models already, thus causing all of them to fall just short of what's necessary and delaying the release of the one good product. As far as II'm concerned if it doesn't work on a particular persons computer that's tough luck and they should move on or wait until a version comes out that does work.

The endless cycle of betas and unfinished products is what reduces the effectiveness of any distro, if you haven't got a 'finished product' you really haven't got anything.

I agree If one person out of 100 say has a problem with audio that is what the forum is for see if someone else has the same CPU or motherboard etc. It should not be a concern of the creator.

The creator (Ray) should concentrate on ONE exceptional version rather than 3, 4 or 5 mediocre, incomplete versions covering a multitude of sins. I feel certain that had Ray taken this approach he would now be the proud developer of one of the better distros, as it is, well enough said.

Just use UNetBootin. Works flawlessly.

As LinuxFrog pointed out, use Unetbootin, and it comes with PhoenixOS. Very easy to use, its located in systems folder. Easiest way to put it on a usb stick!

Thats what I have decided to do, but a different approach. Final versions are coming very soon, for those who are having problems a Final based on Karmic or Hardy, and for the rest that have no problems a final based on lucid. That way hopefully everyone is happy

Eventually there will be only 2 versions: Mini Laptop and Regular versions, but for now above approached is being used to eliminate delays and FINALLY have a finished product that can be released in the quality of Linspire releases.

I noticed the forum text ignores spaces. You can put in a lot of spaces then hit SEND and low & behold the text is all squeezed together. No biggie though.

Yeah its the software; you should have seen some of the other forum software! I got lucky that I found this one, and it was free and very easy to setup.

Yeah I might, still figuring out whats gonna happen here, cuz I want to get the freespire forums when they expire but they are hosted on xandros server so might just get the domain name and have it forwarded to here or your forum; still thinkin what to do.
