Ubuntu 10.10 is finally in beta:
http://distrowatch.com/6257
Robbie Williamson has announced the availability of the beta release of Ubuntu 10.10, code name "Maverick Meerkat": "The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the release of Ubuntu 10.10 beta." Some of the interesting new desktop features include: "The GNOME base platform has been updated to the current 2.31 versions. Evolution was updated to the 2.30.2 version, which operates much faster than the version in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Shotwell has replaced F-Spot as the default photo manager. Gwibber has been updated to support the recent change in Twitter's authentication system, as well as changing the back-end storage to improve performance. The Sound Indicator has been enhanced to include music player controls. New themes, new icons, and new wallpaper bring a dramatically updated look and feel to Ubuntu." See the release announcement and release notes for more details. Download (SHA256): ubuntu-10.10-beta-desktop-i386.iso (694MB, torrent), ubuntu-10.10-beta-desktop-amd64.iso (695MB, torrent). Also release today were 10.10 beta builds of Kubuntu (download, release notes), Xubuntu (download), Edubuntu (download), Mythbuntu (download) and Ubuntu Studio (download).

I don't get your "blood snot" comment on wallpaper. Not to mention that there are tons of images out there that you can set as your wallpaper, if you don't like the ones that are offered with various distros.
I have a collection of hundreds of wallpapers from the Lindows/Linspire days... my personal favorite being "Green Chaos"...

I also see it as someone eating burritos with lots of salsa and sneezed all over the 10.09 wallpaper and could not wip it off.....

I am very proud of disabled Marines..I am glad to know you.
I'm somewhat bionic myself.
I got to tell you this,I'm setting at my computer and I start to open a program and I can't think of the password. I've used it a 1000 times. However I knew where
I kept them and looking right at it I couldn't remember what to do.uh oh My wife
was in the other room and I said to her what year is this. She walked into the room
looked at me and said who is the president,I did not have a clue. She quickly called 911.
Funny thing was I felt no pain or thump as Ray would say I did not feel any different physically I started to get up and the 911 crew no don't get up and they carried me and my chair out. They asked me a few questions that I couldn't answer
and away I went. The funny part is if I wasn't at my computer I would not have known it happened. I new there was a president but didn't know who it was and I didn't know any presidents. I recovered 80% in two weeks 100% in three months.

I got Ubuntu 10.10 beta UNR loaded on my Dell netbook. Seems to be running pretty good so far.
