Dream Linux revival? Empty Dream Linux revival?

Thu Feb 28, 2013 3:06 pm
Anyone have any interest in an updated Dream Linux? I have been goofing around with updating it for a couple of months and I finally have most of the bugs worked out. I replaced the Dreamlinux installer with the Refracta one. I also replaced the old 3.1 kernel with an 3.8 one from Kanotix. It boots and runs on my laptop and in VMware that is all I can promise. Not a bad little system if you are an XFCE fan.

John,

I'll give it a whirl, I rather like some aspects of xfce. Currently my xfce is SalineOS, but it's not acting too well with Vmware tools at the moment. Mad

I have installed the VMWare mouse and video drivers but not the full tools.

To install use the refracta installer under the systems menu

Let me know what you think. I always liked Dream Linux and was sorry to see it go. Originally I planned to rebuild it from scratch just using the graphics they opened sourced but I never had time so I had to settle for tweaking the old one and getting it updated. Not an official product or anything just a little tribute to a distro I used to play with.

Not sure about the network it is rock solid on my laptop. I looked at Cairo but it was going to pull in too much software for what it did. Tried Docky as well but it wasn't better than the installed one.
